Why should I go for a WordPress Website?

The beauty of WordPress is that it is evolving. There is always something fascinating, something new coming up in its world. When WordPress was created first (way back in 2003), it was just a piece of script used for blogging. Since then, it has grown leaps and bounds into a platform which runs nearly 60 million websites all over the web. There are countless themes to give it great looks, and countless plugins to give it great functionality. And not the least, it has massive community support.

For one, it is cost effective. Once your site is set up, it is quite easy for anyone with basic computer knowledge to add or modify content and link them to the website without having to seek professional help.

Secondly, with a little understanding of the Dashboard, anyone can administer a wordpress website quite easily. WordPress has a very intuitive Dashboard which can be operated by one or more administrators, with different user levels for various tasks.

Third, if for some reason you want to change the look and feel of your website, it’s quite easy to simply “switch” to a new theme and enable your links etc. without having to reprogram your website.

That said, there are a few things you need to keep in mind about WordPress. While WordPress does make it easy to manage your website, your wordpress theme and plugins take care of the looks and functionality. You would need to make sure that your themes and plugins are updated and compatible with the latest version of WordPress. While most of them will work well, you need to have them updated for three main reasons –

  1. Plug security loopholes
  2. Bug fixes
  3. Add additional features and functionality
